I wrote this article titled “Six trends influencing Gen AI” a few weeks ago and it recently was placed online. You can find the complete text at Forbes Tech Council.

I discuss in it 6 trends influencing Gen AI happening now:
LLMs
Not just size growth in parameters but also better data quality for ingestion. We’ve gobbled up much of the low hanging datasets (common crawl, book corpus, etc), what’s next?
Compute scarcity
We all know the story here. Get me GPUs!
Orchestration layer
Lots of interesting tooling here and approaches to enterprise usage. See the recent OpenAI announcements too!
Open source
6 months ago this was barely a topic. And here we’re talking about LLMs as well as orchestration frameworks too. (LangChain, LlamaIndex)
Guardrails
For those only following the tech developments, you’d be amiss if you’re not also following the regulatory landscape and the advances in alignment.
Multi-modal models
Amazing the velocity at which we’re integrating vision in these experiences as well as speech and listening. This was all in the lab 6-12 months ago and now it’s product that’s shipping. Vision is not just photos, it’s documents, charts, etc.
If you want to read the complete article about trends influencing Gen AI, you can do it on Forbes. And please comment if you agree / disagree / have better ideas.
